We offer post-natal check ups at Fresh Ground with our Osteopaths Laura Tilson and Alexandra Freeman.

At these Post-Natal Assessment appointments we provide:

  • Assessment of the movement and function of the pelvis and spine
  • Assessment of postural changes
  • Assessment of rectus diastasis
  • Pelvic floor exercises and advice tailored to your individual needs
  • Treatment for the pelvis and pelvic floor
  • Treatment for scar tissue restrictions
  • Treatment for rib pain


A woman’s body changes during pregnancy. Those changes include the softening of ligaments, weight increase and changes to posture. That can lead to additional pressure on joints in various parts of the body, including the spine or pelvis.

Pregnancy can cause general aches and pains including joint and back pain and osteopathy could help.

Osteopathy may help relieve the stresses and strains on your body during pregnancy and after birth.


Osteopaths utilise a range of techniques including physical manipulation, stretching and massage, and other gentle techqnieues such as cranial. These are all taught at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Alexandra Freeman  M.Ost

Alexandra Freeman is an experienced Osteopath who uses structural, cranial and other osteopathy techniques to treat her patients. Alexandra has a passion for paediatric and is currently studying for her Diploma at The Osteopathic Centre for Children.

Alexandra is a Registered Osteopath with the General Osteopathic Council. She graduated from the London School of Osteopathy with a Masters degree in Osteopathy. She has completed courses in both dry needling and cranial techniques at the Sutherland Cranial College.




Appointment Times (Fresh Ground) : Monday evenings 4-8pm and Friday mornings 8am-12pm.



Alexandra Freeman is an excellent osteopath, has relieved my back pain following my treatments with her. She takes time to find out the cause of the pain, alleviates the pain and is a pleasure to work with. I cannot recommend her enough.

Paediatric Osteopathy: The Importance of an Active Lifestyle for your Children

Study Shows Potential Link between Childhood Motor Coordination and Sedentary Behaviour in Adulthood

We know how much kids love running around but did you know that their level of activity in childhood might be linked to their future level of activity as adults.

This study explains a bit more about the importance of keeping your kids active.

Good motor coordination in childhood is linked to maintained physical activity in middle age. A team led by University College London used data from the 1970 British Cohort Study, which follows the lives of more than 17,000 people.

When the participants were aged 10 their motor coordination skills were assessed. This included tasks such throwing a ball, standing on one leg, and walking backwards.

The researchers don’t yet know if poor coordination leads to more sedentary behaviour. One possibility is that sports are less enjoyable in those with less well-developed coordination, and this may lead to lower participation in physical activities.

Since sedentary lifestyles have a wide range of poor effects on health, the authors of the study suggest that children should be encouraged to participate in sports, and that this may benefit their health into adulthood.

Paediatric osteopaths are trained to assess your child’s motor function and joint health. Your osteopath will be able to offer you and your family advice on creating and maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle, and give you advice on the sort of exercise that would be suitable.

Jacqueline Shergold MHS B.Sc

Jacqueline enjoys treating a wide variety of conditions with a particular passion for treating children and babies. She uses gentle techniques to release tension in the muscles and joints that may have resulted from their position in the womb or from their birth. She is currently completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Osteopathy and works in the clinic at the Osteopathic Centre for Children in London.

Jacqueline Shergold has worked in clinics in Australia and Ireland where she worked extensively with Australian Footballers and other elite athletes. In Australia she taught anatomy at University level and therefore has a great understanding of the human body in function and dysfunction.

Techniques she uses include Cranial, Obstetric and Paediatric Osteopathy, dry needling and sports taping. She uses cranial and structural osteopathy as well as rehabilitation exercises in combination for the best possible outcomes.

Appointment Times: Fridays 12-4pm and Home Visits for Newborns available on Wednesdays
